The inn's owner would be this guy, the one who briefly talked with Nemi. :) Proprietor of an establishment that owns one of the very few natural hot springs in the whole of Archaiea! :D

Yes, this is the trope I was talking about. And yes, we'll get there. In a few pages. ;) (It'll be more fun than doing it alone!)

I'm still figuring out what I want to do with the Facebook and Twitter pages; please feel free to suggest ideas here if you have any!

Oh Cain, saying that with that look on your face... might not be the best idea.

Yeah... Cain is prone to forcing fake smiles on when he doesn't know what kind of expression to wear. >_<
Lukkai 26th Sep 2014, 7:14 AM edit delete reply
Not that Kylie wouldn't long have learned to see right through the fake ones.

I love the expressions in this page... Without any text at all you can feel what's going on.

Also, Cain reminds me of Kenshin Himura from Rurouni Kenshin a little sometimes. It's that sad kindness thing...
Very awesome characterization.

Awww, thank you Outlaw! I do try to let the expressions speak as much as possible, since I do have a habit of putting in tons of dialogue. I am a talky-talky person. XD;

I can sort of see what you're talking about with the comparison! They even have red hair! ... Okay, I know that wasn't the similarity you were talking about. XD;

But thank you! >3<*)/ Hopefully Cain will continue to intrigue readers instead of causing them to want to flip tables. XD;;

Awwww....

Nemi looks so happy with the nice bed <3

...and yayy for the hot springs :D

I wonder if Nemi will like them after being in the cold water the whole day...

PS: I love how happy the family is, especially the little one.

Hot springs are a novelty, so they will probably all enjoy it to an extent. :) Before that, though, one little thing has to happen first...

Lol hot springs.

I notice you used slightly different colors/shades when coloring Kylie in the 3rd & 4th panels and I'm abit curious as to why. Any reason?

I'm not sure if you saw this already, but I did cover my process in creating the strip in this forum thread.

What you see in the different colours and shades are actually different filters. Usually when you are outside looking into a well-lit area, it will look different than it looks when you are actually in the well-lit area itself. Besides attempting realistic lighting, however, I also wanted to emphasise the differences in setting between where Kylie was standing and where Cain was standing. He is literally standing outside the light, where it is dark, and Kylie is engaging him from where it is lit. I might have been trying to say something there. ;P

So that's why~ :) Technically the shades are the exact same in terms of colour and opacity, but the differences are just the overlay and screen filters.

Ah, so it was a different filter.

And that makes since with the inside/outside tones. Mater of fact different tones per the situation one of the things you do that I really like (particularly that sunset one). It just seemed odd to me she was in the same room with diff shades. But I see what you were doing with contrasting her to Cain and showing depth. In any case I just like hearing what your thoughts were (even if I dint draw XD).

Hiya, love your comic, read it all over 2 days.

Great dynamic between the various personalities, I especially like the two mains and the other Lethians, and the art is great!
One piece of constructive criticism though, the boobs of Kylie and especially the cat-girl can sometimes be a bit enormous, the cat-girl's are sometimes as big as her head.

Look forwards to seeing how Kylie reacts to this. I think they're close enough now she won't react against the fake smile and try to do something nice. :)

Hello hello! :D Thank you so much for your kind words, and for reading the comic! I'm glad you're enjoying it so far!

And I knoooow XD;;; gosh, I was waiting for someone to call me out on the boobs thing eventually! Totally my bad. I'm learning as I go so hopefully they will stabilise in fixed size over time. XD;; (Maybe the hot springs scene will help!)

For the record though, Nemi *does* have big boobs. They might seem bigger lately because I've been trying to draw them right since I keep drawing them too small. XD; Kylie has kinda-big-ish ones but she tends to keep it under wraps.

Anywho, while Kylie doesn't react immediately, she will bring it up later. :)

PS.

Love the combination of JRPGs as a foundation for combat physics combined with the gore of combat... very unique mix that I find blends well with the darker setting.

Oh, yay! :D Thank you! I'm glad it works!

There's a lovely person in the Disqus comments who has been working on a tabletop conversion for SF, if you're interested in that sorta thing. :)

Thanks for the encouraging remarks! I really appreciate it. <3 I'll do my best to keep the comic engaging!

Oh, the way my mind works sometimes. "How about we have them stay at our inn? On the house, of course." and I imagine the next panel will be them on the roof of the inn. ;-)
