Chapter Synopses

On this page, you'll find synopses of each chapter, with a handy little set of notes! This is for the convenience of wrapping up each chapter in a bundle, hopefully aiding readers both new and old alike. ♥

CHAPTER 1: RASWEN VILLAGE
Monsters: Batmoles, Dreglyns, Deathscythe
Synopsis (please click inside the dotted box for the long version!):
A knight plagued with dreams meets a cleric cursed with chains. They visit a fortune teller together, but their timing sucks. Result: a party is formed, and a long-term quest is given to them.
Author notes: I spent ten years on this chapter because of looong hiatuses. A rather drastic evolution of art took place in the span of a single chapter as a result! I went back and redrew the first 20+ strips with digital inks at the start of 2015 as part of a Redrawing Campaign, though you can still view the older versions of the strips by clicking the DeviantArt links provided in the Author's Notes for those redrawn pages. :)
 

 

CHAPTER 2: KORI VILLAGE
Monsters: Glamia Slaves, Shrewters
Mid-boss Monster: Glamia Queen

Half the village is wrecked from a 'natural' disaster. A Kijin thief joins the party along the way. Cain gains some experience.
Author notes: This chapter is fairly short! Rik and Lac are still some of my favourite NPCs, probably because I had them planned out in advance looong ago. :)
 

 

CHAPTER 3: LARI OASIS
Monsters: Sandworm
Enemies: Danrir rebels
Mid-boss Character: Danrir rebel captain
Boss Characters: Fyra, Sho, Madou

The Annual Grand Oasis Ball is held. Old friends and new enemies abound.
Author notes: Yes, I pulled the 'fancy dress ball' trope in this chapter, and I had fun! :D I also chose not to care about the chapter length as much as I had with chapter two, so this one is a long chapter.
 

 

 

CHAPTER 4: SPHEREA FALLS
Monsters: Sunzars, Poppygels, Blind Mice, Blue Dreglyns
Enemies: (Zirconia) Slave traders
Mid-boss Monster: Sproppygel

The party reaches Spherea Falls. Much is happening beneath the surface - both literally and non-literally. A familiar face joins the group, and a new destination is decided.
Author notes: It was really fun to finally get Mike back in the party, as I'd planned from the start. :)
 

 

 

CHAPTER 5: FRACTURE PASS
Monsters: Luna Bears, Criers
Boss Characters: Ren, Leela, Sho, Madou

The party faces off with another enroute to Jem Citadel, and no one escapes unscathed.
Author notes: Finally getting to this chapter was a bit of a surreal experience as I'd been planning this one for over a decade! XD;
 

 

 

CHAPTER 6: ERIMIA
Monsters: Blood Ant, Cauterpillar

All the things that broke in Fracture Pass must be dealt with, and winds of change - and possibly healing - begin to blow.
Author notes: This was the least planned of all the chapters I've done thus far, as I hadn't really thought about giving the characters time to chew on the events of Chapter Five until it came to this actual point! But I'm glad how it turned out. :)
 

 

CHAPTER 7: JEM CITADEL - COMMONER GROUNDS
Monsters: Cent-harts (Nobody-faces)

The party takes exams to pass the level requirement for Jem Citadel's tournament grounds, but find themselves soon after in a sticky situation.
Author notes: This was the first time I planned a chapter to set up more than it would resolve. I had a lot of fun working on this chapter because it was an opportunity to really expand the world of Archaiea through Clandest and the World Guild. :)
