Happy Friday, folks! It's breakfast time in Caelune, with dark charcoal-rye bread sammiches, wraps, crunchy-soft vegetable copato cakes and a whole lot of fresh cacao juice :3 I hope you guys are able to get some good breakfast foods wherever you're at!
Hey folks, I'm sorry for the late notice but I don't think I'll have the update in time for tonight. I might push the update to the weekend before I take a small break just so I can recalibrate my schedule a little; lots of new freelance work came in this week unexpectedly, which is good, but not great for comic times :')
Sorry guys, I'm going to push this update all the way to this weekend instead. There's a lot going on at once for me right now so I need some time and space to get a handle on it. ;v;* Thank you for your understanding.
Sorry guys, I hate that this has become a mini-hiatus. I've had some health issues crop up; nothing too serious but I've been unable to focus on things I've been meaning to. I should be able to update this weekend if all goes well, as it's Chinese New Year and I should have some legit resting/comic-ing time.
Hey everyone! Thank you all so much for your very kind messages amid this unprecedented break ;v;*
My health issues seem to be on the mend and the Chinese New Year holiday was really helpful in giving me some breathing space from work. However, work is back on the plate and I will try to figure out how to balance it with comic-ing. >-<* I need finances to survive of course, but I quit my last job because the misery was outweighing my financial gains and I am wary of falling into the same problem again. Just need some more time perhaps to get a better idea of what the current work situation will do (or not do) for me over the long run and make a decision from there. In the meantime, I'd like to schedule the next comic update on 26 February. By then I should hopefully have an idea as to whether the update schedule will need to be adjusted or not to accommodate for my current work pains. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding! See you guys again soon >-<**)/
Hey everyone, there was some downtime on the ComicFury host server over the weekend but things should be back up and running now. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for my ability to update this comic on time OTL and I apologise. Still really wrestling here with work-related motivational issues... but everyone's comments have lifted me out of the mire time and time again, so thank you. ;v;* Shall we try for this Friday?
EDIT: Confirming that the next update's going up in six hours :D and I've done my best to respond to comments here - thanks so so much for your kind words <3 I'm sorry for the super long delay in responding! ;v;*
I was actually wondering if it would be Jinn this morning or not, based on last weeks strip. I like Mikes solution, but I'm not sure I like Mikes solution.
My wife's Italian. She corrected me within seconds of me saying "expresso" and other common mispronounced Italian words - and don't you DARE call here "Eye-talian"...
(I have a tonne of respect for Mr. Skelton, as well as another "red" - Mr. Redd Foxx...)
Same here, though Mr. Foxx's stand up isn't very family friendly! the "Caffeine Express" was an obscure Rowan & Martin Routine that I always liked, but it seems like I'm the only one who remembers it!
I also have several Italian friends, all of whom have shown me the error of my ways for cooking Mac & Cheese, and I now have 5 different recipe's for a Carbonara sauce (depending on the Meat). Sorry Kraft, you're out!
My wife LOVES my KD and REAL Mac & cheese (actually expensive to make). Comfort food is comfort food, and sometimes your body just craves that orange sauce.
Oddly enough, there is a shortage of Classico brand Alfredo sauce in Canada right now. Apparently the company had to re-tool their production back in May, and focused on the tomato-based sauces as they sold better than the cream-based ones. I well know that an Alfredo sauce is ridiculously easy to make from scratch (and cheaper, and you control your ingredients) but if you don't have the time, inclination, or skills to cook from scratch, it's kind of a bummer.
I learned butter, milk, real cheddar, a dash of salt, you make a way better cheese sauce. I was also taught what magic you can do with it beyond just the basic! for instance, a small can of green chili's for a queso, or little smokies...
I still keep the boxed stuff around because it will survive a nuclear war, but fresh is a gazillion times better, even when you are just "craving the orange".
Mike is working with very limited options, sadly; at least, figuring out all this soulstone and wishing stone business isn't his forte at all. He's a smith :'D but he's trying!
Don't overfeed him, guys, Mikey might end up in a food coma XD But I love how they're all so supportive of Mikey, he really wants to be there for Nemi no matter what.
(Also Mikey in that first panel... geez... pls get some sleep after all this :,D)
@R/N2: Thank you for the notification. Do not worry, Rufi, RL always comes first - especially if you get paid for it. ♡ *hugs* 💗
...we will be here waiting with bated breaths for the update 🙂 😉
Edit: @R/N3: *hugs* take your time, Rufi *hugs* you can make it! But take care of the RL stuff first! *hugs*
Thank you Mjkj for always always supporting and checking in ;v;* this was a very long bunch of A/Ns over the course of two months, and I'm very grateful for your kind support!
It's certainly an unfortunate reality that I must submit to earning the dosh whenever I can; timing-wise, I managed to quit the job haranguing me just as 2020 began to reveal its true colours, so... :'D I gotta try and make ends meet otherwise during a blegh time for pretty much everyone. Still, you guys still sticking around and reading despite my hiatus is very much a blessing and I'm grateful for that <3 thankyew ;v;*
I meant to mention this earlier, but I got the Christmas card pack without a single crease nor crinkle to be found on them! In the meantime, take all the time you need to rest well and get better. We'll still be here, ready and waiting. *hugs*
I'm very glad you received those MysticJanus! I'm just sorry they couldn't have arrived earlier, lol. I hope they are of use to you this coming Christmas instead XD;;
Thank you so much for reading and your kind support <3
Oh no! I hope you're feeling better soonest! Don't worry about updates; stuff has a way of coming up at inopportune times. Take your time, and get sorted. Thanks for keeping us in the loop!
My health issues have improved since the last I wrote of them, I'm happy to report, so thank you very kindly :D
One unfortunate thing though is that I believe it's something that gets exacerbated by stress, which I've been battling with constantly since working more frequently. ~_~
Thanks always for checking in and for your kind support, megados ;v;**
Had a flowchart on the wall in my old employment that went something like this. 1) You are a d*** good human. 2) D*** good humans deserve breaks. 3) Because you are a d*** good human, you deserve a break.
Moral to this flowchart: you deserve a break/hiatus if you need it :D
Thank you mjkj ;v;** I am happy to report my health issues have improved since I last wrote of them in the A/N! I just need to try and not stress so much, since that causes the issue to sort of worsen again. Bleghhhh.
Pedantically: This break isn't without precedent. Not that I mind that much. Of course I'd rather have comics, but not at the cost of your health. So, do what you need to do. The mere fact you're still talking to us is certainly a better sign than turning out to have had a breakdown after months of silence. I'm counting that as progress, and so should you.
I suppose I didn't expect to take as long a hiatus as I did this time around; it was supposed to be just a short break but many unexpected happenings kept pushing the update out further and further, to my chagrin. I am trying to not do what I did last time (drop off the face of the earth for a while) so I can keep you guys posted ;v;* I'm happy if that at least counts as progress.
Rufi, even if your update schedule becomes only once in a never, I'll still be around :) as will everyone around here, I'm sure of it :D Take care of yourself first.
Thank you Robert kindly for the well wishes! ;v;* Still trying to get to grips with it tbh. It's not a bad job per se, I just need more time to get used to it perhaps?
Thank you mjkj ;v;** (that "ganbaryu" was adorable so don't change it XD)
Burning out is probably my biggest concern at the moment. I'm feeling it already and I know it's not SF - it's the job that's sucking out my motivation and energy, just like the PR one. :< I wonder if updating every two weeks instead of weekly would help for now? It's a conundrum...
Glad to see you're with us yet. Would it help to, say, write down everything you like and don't like about basically any aspect of work, then see if you can't reframe, reorganise, or otherwise change things around so work doesn't depress you so much?
Don't let it stress you. I get the sense that not being able to comic right now, just adds to your stress. It's OK. We're here. If Friday works, then it's good.
It does bother me on a personal level, as this is my passion project and I'm determined to keep it going, but it seems so hard to do at the same time as, well, keeping myself fed. :'D I hate thaaat
But *shakes head* you're right, it's counter-productive to let it stress me out even further. Happily I can report the comic's done and ready to go for an update today :D
...so supportive...
@alt text: would be nice =)
@R/N: thank you for the yummy link...
Re: alt text, it's really something I've been thinking about XD noted that you wouldn't mind it!
Have a good weekend, and breakfast! :D
Food tends to be my go-to when I'm stressed XD (he should probably try not to get into a food coma though yep)
By the way, if you need inspiration for food, I offer my services as a connoisseur of regional food from all over the place ;)
Though really, I prefer not too elaborate breakfasts. French toast or gibanica (a type of pastry from the Balkans) with yoghurt, that is the stuff!
Expresso anyone?
(Red Skelton once said "A joke isn't funny if you have to explain it", my apologies!)
(I have a tonne of respect for Mr. Skelton, as well as another "red" - Mr. Redd Foxx...)

With any luck the drama will only come in like the next chapter or soGive him ALL the caffeines and wake up pills you can guys.
(Also Mikey in that first panel... geez... pls get some sleep after all this :,D)
Everyone's in this together ♥
In DnD 5.0 terms, Mikey's racking up them exhaustion points :')
I hope he gets a good nap once this is all over... though I have a feeling that won't be any time soon :S
Also aww, Kylie and Lyn are so cute x3
This is going to be a fairly long chapter (lol) so it may be a while yet before Mikey's head gets to meet a pillow XD; we'll see!
...we will be here waiting with bated breaths for the update 🙂 😉
Edit: @R/N3: *hugs* take your time, Rufi *hugs* you can make it! But take care of the RL stuff first! *hugs*
Edit2: @R/N4: Awww... get well soon *hugs*

Take all the time you need to figure that out - after you take care of your health...
*hugs*
I know that RL is important, I just wish I could have more SF time because that's really important to me too u-u
I suppose I didn't expect to take as long a hiatus as I did this time around; it was supposed to be just a short break but many unexpected happenings kept pushing the update out further and further, to my chagrin. Please do not stress yourself too much, Rufi, and stay on the safe side to not burn out *hugs*
...otherwise: you can make it *cheers Rufi on* Ganbaryu, Rufi-San
(botches that up - hopefully not beyond recognition)
