Happy Friday folks! We get to see Gwen a whole lot this page, lol. More talking ensues as outrageous demands (?) are flung across the polished floors of the Hall of Peace! Will Gwen get a word in edgewise after her staggering (??) suggestion? Will Rufi ever illustrate a character speaking from the bench as more than just a dark shadowy figure? (???) Stay tuned! :P
In the meanwhile, are you looking for content to tide you through to next week's update? Allow me to suggest a couple places that may tickle yer fancy!
Mylandah continues to upload episodes for our playthrough for It Takes Two, with the latest episode in particular having a gem of a moment in it (thank you Myl XD). Please do leave a comment if you enjoy the videos as Myl loves comments <3 (I mean, as do I, but no pressure XD)
I also totally recommend the excellent Tamuran if you aren't already reading it :3 The comic was on a hiatus for a bit but it's updating again (sound familiar? XD)! It's an action-packed romp with wonderfully original characters and a marvellously done fantasy setting, and with loads of content to sink your teeth into (heh) you'll want to bring a blanket and just cosily immerse yourself for a good long binge.
Also, I want to thank all the lovely folks who turned up last weekend for our little hangouts on Discord - it was a blast playing Wildermyth together :3 We'll definitely do another hangout (maybe with a new game or movie to watch) sometime soon! Our community server can be a very chill place to relax and lurk if you'd like to join our Discord and hang out time to time :)
And with that, I wish you all a wonderful weekend and will see you next week! <3 Thank you so much for reading SF ;v;*)/
There's a lot mired here, and many neighbouring parties with opinions, so each truce talk is supposed to take baby steps towards untangling one bit after another. Supposed to. -v-a
Gwen's suggestion might face a good bit of backlash. At first blush it may sound illogical, but combined with other actions, might have a more positive outcome.
I second the Tamuran recommendation. I was glad to see its return!
I wonder if it's a bit like trying to patch a bug. Sometimes you try to fix it and send out that update, only to find it's breaking other bits of the game. You could hastily backtrack it but the original bug remains. :')
Tamuran is excellent! I'm glad you saw Eren's comments and saw they were updating again XD
I was thinking along the similar lines, @Gil. Sanctions on trade means huge profits in smuggling. Relieve trade pressure, goods again become available, and smugglers become limited to dangerously Illegal goods, that could get one killed for transporting.
long story short, war is good for business, so it makes sense that the Zirconium Guild is here trying to pull strings.
Whether there's something specific that the chosen one wants out of this or not is yet to be determined. There may very well be a link, but I don't think Rufi has shown it yet. (or, she tried to slap us in the face with her clues about it and I'm too stupid to pick up on it... either way!)
I have dropped some 'hints' (or vague dots I suppose to connect) but the bigger picture probably won't be very visible until I start really throwing in the details. People are definitely making good guesses though so far ;P
@Gil: Not to confirm or deny anything, but I felt it was only fair to point out the shadowy figures from the bench may be shadowy mostly because I was a wee bit lazy XD maaay beeee
Let me get this right: Gwen is asking for supplies and open trade routes in order to alleviate the mess of a Feudal system that they themselves created and "feed the masses" to help stop them from blaming Fel for everything?
Of course, if you're one of the peons in a feudal system, it's MUCH safer to blame outsiders for all of your society's ills instead of openly blaming the REAL instigators, because that will not only lead to your neck being stretched, but your family being forever destitute and/or enslaved.
It's an interesting point you bring up, that was very briefly touched upon between Jack and Gwen on this page - the war helps to keep the two states pitted against each other in two united fronts. Gwen believes that Fel's population of lower to middle class status (the majority of them) are more prone to blame Nines at the way things are going right now. If the war is alleviated and Nines looks less likely to blame, you're probably not wrong about where things are going to go...
It's hard to comment on this kind of thing (not comment on the comic, comment on these sort of arguments in conflicts like this).
It's so easy to dismiss internal problems in an area as just that from an outsider's perspective, without considering how so intertwined everything is. Even IF the internal problems are unrelated, it's almost impossible to even think about resolving conflict if you're starving and suffering.
War isn't just good for business, war is profitable. And that's just looking at it from an economic perspective, because we know there are definitely folks involved here who are doing it for much more sinister reasons.
It's getting political innit :'D ahhhh fantasy politics! I hope it's not too heavy XD;;
Jack and Gwen are both representing their respective territories to discuss this at a macro level, but it's definitely hard for them sometimes to not think about the micro level. People tend to be relegated to a number on a page, but people aren't really numbers, ne? :')
...uh yeah. I'm with her. If the supply chain is being cut off by another country, of course the people at the bottom being hit hardest by shortages are going to blame that other country. Like, duh?
Supply chains are very geopolitical in the global day and age @-@ perhaps to a lesser degree in Archaiea since it is a smaller world (thankfully :P) but one problem definitely domino-effects a load of others, not just economically but socially as well. Why can't we all just get along...? ;v;

Both the representatives of Fel and Nines agree that restoration of the trade routes would have the desired effect.
But someone (a shadowy figure from the bench) doesn’t want trade routes restored. Could they be fanning the flames of war for nefarious purposes? ^_^

Nice. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face...
