Happy Friday everyone! :D I hope you've all been safe and snug wherever you are. It's been typhoon-ing all over where I live this week.
I figure maybe now's the time to note that since last month, I've been doing updates one day early for Patreon supporters (regardless of tier). The early updates are also posted in the SF Discord in the supporters-only channel, for extra convenience. :) If that little incentive appeals to you, I humbly ask you to consider supporting SF through Patreon, as every little bit goes a really long way.
To all current supporters who have been with SF for years: thank you so, so much for your incredible support, even through (especially through) all the lows. ;v;** <333 I'll do my best to deliver as much SF to everyone as I can!
Thanks so much for reading :3 see you guys next week!
@megados: When some rules or standards or old enough, it can be easy to maintain them without actually remembering why they existed in the first place, ne? :')
The Egalitarian inside of me is starting to like Kajini culture less and less.
and I'm a Cat person!!!
Just to point out the obvious, please note that Shera is not under the same draconian measure, and has the ability to sling any wild speculative accusation at Nemi at will.
Assuming a sufficient tendency towards Feline behavior, I can understand if Fels has gravitated towards a Napoleonic Code of "Guilty until proven innocent."
Interesting that the peace collar prevents her from "speaking out of turn," yet doesn't explicitly compel her to only speak the truth.
I mean, perhaps it does, but what we've seen so far is only that she herself vowed to speak the truth, not that she's been magically barred from doing otherwise. For all we know, the collar is the furthest thing from a lie detector. The fact that the person instructing her didn't specify as such at least suggests that waiting until it's her turn to talk is more of a priority than not lying in court.
I could be reaching, but still, considering how the meeting elsewhere is going and how rigid the moderator is, I feel like this detail is probably intentional.
"Peace" collar. For the 'peace' of the court, you are restricted from doing anything not at the liking of the court. That is what I get from this as a 'purpose' to the entire thing... not truth, but convenience for those in power.
In fact, since we don’t yet know the nature of the cache Nemi visited, that could happen. ^_^

Of course, telling the "truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth" could be rather...inconvenient...for the court... lol
Well, they should put the others under similar oaths...
I really hope that the inquisitor messes up in such way she comes into the receiving end of that oath, too...
Inquisitor Shera can do no wrong, surely. She is on the side of justice! Unlike that nasty half-breed standing over there...
