I'm sure a number of you saw this coming. The 'Stiles' title was elaborated upon on this page here, in case you need a refresher. The Grey River conflict is also lightly touched upon by Rory on this page. All in all, Nemi's got herself in a real pickle, eh?
If you've ever enjoyed reading POW! Right in the Nostalgia by MST3KFan (and if you haven't read it yet, go ahead and check it out 'cause it's great) please consider dropping by this ComicFury thread and sending MST3KFan some love and positive thoughts. I think he could really use it. ;v;*
Thanks so much for reading SF, and catch you guys next week! Have a great weekend >3<*)/
I had to scramble looking through past pages because I swear I made an offhand guess that the danririn she “potentially saved” was a Stiles… AND I WAS RIGHT (except for the part that I thought Stiles was the name of the guy and not a title XD)
Seems like it’s “highly suspect” and not “guilty” for now, which is good, but not great. Still, there’s hope, and a lot of Ace Attorney to go through.
You certainly did make that guess! XD 'Cause you're a very clever muffin, I have to be careful now or else you're gonna read all my cards ahead of time... *shifty eyes*
I'll try to do my best Ace Attorney impressions in the rest of the chapter to come :'D
I'm guessing there are no "Geneva Accords on the Treatment of Prisoners of War" in this universe.
"Instrumental in his escape" can have MANY meanings, if you go down the rabbit hole deep enough.
I get the feeling that Nemi is the scapegoat for the failings of the Fel. If you think about it, and apply the twisted logic that follows, ANYONE who provides medical aid to a POW (who eventually escapes) is guilty of Treason. Splint a broken leg, the POW eventually heals, finds a way to escape, and its off with YOUR head for having the temerity of behaving in a humane manner.
The Stiles should have been cared for in the FIRST place, because an injured and dying asset like that would make for a VERY poor bargaining chip (ie: hostage/ransom).
Treating a POW while in camp is one thing, but Treating the wounds of an escaped prisoner is still aiding and abbetting a felon, even if you didn't know.
Nemi's in pretty deep water here.
as much as we know can be found on this page,
I phrase it like that because we don't know if she actually did anything to treat him, but she is covering for her little sister, who is the one who gave a fugitive shelter.
any way you slice it, this is pretty bad
@sigpig: Mmhm, mmhm. *strokes fake beard* XD I can't say too much without giving the chapter away, but I'll say you're on the right track for some of those things :D
I kind of figured Nemi's woes stemmed from that time she was trying to do the morally right thing. No good deed goes unpunished, and all that . . .
I totally missed the connection to the Stiles, though. >_<
You would be absolutely forgiven for not catching the connection! The first mention of Stiles was a very long while back. ;) This is the chapter that will formally make the connection that has been there all along. :3
Even without Shera, this is definitely bad.
Although, based on the chapter cover art where Stiles and Nemi are staring daggers at each other, I'm guessing there is a whole lot more to this particular story.
That being said, it's a lot easier to dig yourself into a hole than it is to dig yourself out of one.
I wonder if The Stiles is always a Danririn? Since it is a generational thing in the World as a whole, that would seem to be either a huge strategic advantage for the Danrir, or else special rules would have evolved. Why else, for example, would The Stiles be making weapons for Lethian knights while his or her people are at war with the Fel?
Plus, of course, from a legal standpoint, Nemi can’t be guilty of ‘High Treason’ because she isn’t of sufficient social standing. She can be guilty of Treason, of course, since any citizen can be guilty of that. But, as I understand it (Disclaimer: not a Lawyer or any kind of legal professional), ‘High Treason’ is a specifically egregious crime committed only by those entrusted with power and privilege (such as the nobility), who are presumed to owe a higher duty to the State, and for whom the crime of Treason is therefore particularly heinous and deserving of even more extreme punishment.
However, Wikipedia corrects me “High Treason” is actually defined differently in different jurisdictions, while the historical meaning seems to be ‘Treason against the Monarch or Head of State’, which can be extended to ‘Treason in a time of War’, while other kinds of Treason are just ‘Treason’. So, I suppose Nemi is qualified to commit ‘High Treason’. Good on you, Nemi. ^_^

And thanks for the nod here, rufi. Everything is greatly appreciated right now.

Is our little Nemi a princess in disguise?
And I think Nemi's probably a little princess in the hearts of many. Lolol
That Danriran gave good face.
;-)
And that... is an excellent question.. :'D
